Fatigue and Sedentary Behavior: Blame it on Junk Food

Junk food has been known to have many negative effects on one's health. From diabetes, depression, high cholesterol, to even heart disease, Medical professionals have told us for many years that we should be reducing our intake of junk food (sugary and overly salty processed foods).  The study done by theJournal of Physiology and Behavior from April 10th has proven once again why we should turn to healthier eating options for our overall health.
During this particular study they found that the mice had not only reacted slower but were also found  to be more exhausted and their overall performance of these mice faltered in comparison with the healthy mice.  The interesting find  in this particular experiment was that the scientists switched the groups after six months and found that those obese mice had quickly improved and achieved better overall performances on the tasks required once they were on the healthier diet.
Now what can this teach us? Granted we aren't exactly like mice but this can show us that not only the occasional binge but overall eating an unhealthy diet will cause our reaction times and overall performance to falter. Having an unhealthy diet and over processed sugary food into large and abundant in our diets can affect other areas of our life - not just our waistline.
The most important thing to take from this study is that just like the mice we can change our unhealthy diets around and can improve our overall performance. Making healthier choices  at the grocery store or out to dinner cannot only improve our overall health but our reaction times as well.
